Cancer Awareness      I wanted to bring more awareness to Cancer and how many people are affected. I spoke with a friend who has vast experience in this area about the poster and what would be important to portray. She mentioned that o ne very challenging result of cancer treatment is hair loss. Whether it's fashioning a bandana, wearing a wig, sporting a styled haircut, or going bald, these individuals have to find coping mechanisms for their hair loss during this trying time.      I originally made the shirts colorful, but I decided to black it out, allowing the emphasis to be the hair (or lack of) on their head. This way the reader can visually see the different ways many individuals with cancer need to cope during this trying time. Also, the play on word used with ‘hair’ catches the readers’ attention as something out of place while drawing attention to the characters’ heads.  

 AWARENESS IS THE GREATEST AGENT FOR CHANGE  In my preliminary work I sketched different ideas of how I can create an awareness poster for each topic.  The three topics I chose to bring awareness to are driving under the influence, Type 1 Diabetes and Cancer. They are each important topics for their own reasons. Whether it's Cancer being the 2nd most leading cause of death, Type 1 Diabetes commonly found in children, or too many innocent people killed every day from a drunk driver, they each affect someone's life. 

 BUT IS IT REALLY? During such a huge crisis it's hard to see that some might want to exploit the vulnerable at a time like this. Is it true that doctors were getting paid to write Covid - 19 as a diagnosis for patients that were turning up in hospitals for many things besides for Covid? A doctor. Someone who took an oath to do no harm. Now I understand it was a rough time, there was a lot of unknown in the beginning. Yet, time went on and people starting realizing it just doesn't make sense. The usual diagnosis's hospitals were giving year in and year out weren't happening, whether it was a heart attack, the flu or an accident. Patients weren't being treated for the issues they really had. Many individuals started questioning, is this coming from the top? I would like to think if we outnumber those that try to fool us and stand up for what's right, we will be heard and change will be seen. He is an American physician who has been updating us for the past year and a half on the important rules and regulations surrounding Covid-19 and how to stay safe. I want to talk about the controversy behind the numbers of how many lives were taken due to Covid, and feel like they were misconstrued to some sense for political gain.
