Photo Hijacking

 


If you're not sure who this is, his name is Anthony Fauci. He is an American physician who has been updating us for the past year and a half on the important rules and regulations surrounding Covid-19 and how to stay safe. I want to talk about the controversy behind the numbers of how many lives were taken due to Covid, and feel like they were misconstrued to some sense for political gain. Life during Covid has been and still is very challenging and painful for many. We should be using this time to help those less fortunate, not climbing the political ladder.

On September 13, 1993, Palestine Liberation Organization leader Yasser Arafat and Israeli Prime Minister Yitzchak Rabin signed the Israeli-PLO peace accord with the support of Bill Clinton. For many years Palestinians and Israelis have been living in fear for their lives, while agreements are trying to be made. Hopefully one day we can all live in peace.

This image of an Afghan woman was photographed and published on the front cover of National Geographic in 1985 when Afghanistan was in chaos. Women's rights were not respected and the fear is back now that the Taliban have full power. Pulling our troops out of Afghanistan was always debated and it's good to have our soldiers back, but it's hard to see the effects it has on a country we spent so many years assisting. 


These are my preliminary sketches using the first three photos to create a photomontage.
There are four different sketches for each political issue.

  AND WE'RE LIVE This last assignment was a little tricky for me. At first I didn't think much of building a website, but after the past couple week of analyzing so many different website, an efficient and simple website isn't that simple. What was important for me was that my website was easy to navigate. It shouldn't be some complicated jigsaw puzzle. I created just a few clear tabs with a simple design. Not too much action with a little color.  It was a proud moment posting all my work. I also created a couple new images to test out my new Photoshop skills.  Fantasy Avatar 2.0 This was a very interesting project. Manipulating pictures in a way where the final image doesn't look like it's been edited has been a skill I always wanted to learn, which is why I chose to turn myself into an Avatar. There were quite a few tools that I used that helped me transform my image to an Avatar. There's the Liquify Tool which I used to change the shape of the nose. I also used the Brush Tool to change the skin color to blue. Cancer Awareness      I wanted to bring more awareness to Cancer and how many people are affected. I spoke with a friend who has vast experience in this area about the poster and what would be important to portray. She mentioned that o ne very challenging result of cancer treatment is hair loss. Whether it's fashioning a bandana, wearing a wig, sporting a styled haircut, or going bald, these individuals have to find coping mechanisms for their hair loss during this trying time.      I originally made the shirts colorful, but I decided to black it out, allowing the emphasis to be the hair (or lack of) on their head. This way the reader can visually see the different ways many individuals with cancer need to cope during this trying time. Also, the play on word used with ‘hair’ catches the readers’ attention as something out of place while drawing attention to the characters’ heads.
